« Amazing Grace: Yoruba Worlds » célèbre la réalité afro-brésilienne, la beauté du monde noir et la cosmogonie de la culture yoruba, si importante au Brésil et au Nigeria, deux pays phares pour tous les peuples d'origine africaine.
Ce film célèbre une légende africaine de 90 ans, un grand Yoruba, le professeur Wole Soyinka, prix Nobel de littérature en 1986. Par ailleurs, le professeur Soyinka est scénariste contributeur de ce documentaire, qui le met également en vedette aux côtés d'icônes brésiliennes telles que Carlinhos Brown, Gilberto Gil, Margareth Menezes — qui a participé au film avant d'être nommée ministre brésilienne de la Culture — et plusieurs stars de l'afrobeat.
"Amazing Grace: YorubaWorlds" celebrates Afro-Brazilian reality, the beauty of the black world, and the cosmogony of the Yoruba culture, so significant in Brazil and Nigeria, two flagship countries at least for all peoples of African descent.
This film celebrates a 90-year-old African legend, a great Yoruba, Professor Wole Soyinka, 1986 Nobel Laureate in Literature. Moreover, Professor Soyinka is a contributing screenwriter for this documentary, which also features him, alongside Brazilian icons Carlinhos Bown, Gilberto Gil, Margareth Menezes -who participated in the film before being appointed Brazilian Minister of Culture, and several Afrobeat stars.

Wole Soyinka (né en 1934 à Abeokuta, Nigeria) est un écrivain, dramaturge, poète et le premier lauréat africain du prix Nobel de littérature (1986), récompensé pour sa « vaste perspective culturelle et ses accents poétiques façonnant le drame de l'existence ». Figure majeure des lettres mondiales, il a écrit plus de vingt-cinq pièces de théâtre, sept recueils de poésie, trois romans et cinq mémoires, dont les classiques Le Lion et la Joie, La Mort et l'Écuyer du roi et L'Homme est mort. Critique intrépide de la tyrannie et de l'injustice, il a été emprisonné pendant 22 mois durant la guerre civile nigériane, puis contraint à l'exil. Son œuvre — enracinée dans la mythologie yoruba, la satire politique et un profond humanisme — continue d'inspirer des générations à travers l'Afrique et le monde. A towering figure of world letters, he has written over twenty-five plays, seven poetry collections, three novels, and five memoirs, including the classics The Lion and the Jewel, Death and the King's Horseman, and The Man Died. A fearless critic of tyranny and injustice, he was imprisoned for 22 months during the Nigerian Civil War and later forced into exile. His work—rooted in Yoruba mythology, political satire, and profound humanism—continues to inspire generations across Africa and the world. We are honored to celebrate his legacy.
